H.M. Queen Elizabeth II 1926 - 2022 R.I.P.

Following the Funeral Service on Sept. 19th the Book of Condolence will remain open (via the Parish Office) until the end of September for anyone who wishes to sign.

Today, the 8th September 2022, we received the very sad news made in the announcement of the death of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time. The death of the Queen will bring sadness and emotion to many of us. Her life will have given many of us an example of how to live the Christian faith.

Queen Elizabeth II by her own example and through the words of many of her Christmas broadcasts challenged others to care for one's neighbour. The Queen consistently shared a message that spoke of trying to make the most of the abilities we have been given. She said of our response to the life of Jesus and our response to his love ‘It is a matter of making the best of ourselves, not just doing the best for ourselves.’

As we know from St Paul’s letters we are all called to play our part within the Body of Christ. The Queen gave us the idea of the ‘Ripple Effect’ from her speech at Christmas in 1975. ‘Our daily actions are like those ripples, each one makes a difference, even the smallest.’ Small acts of kindness can make a difference.

In 2000 The Queen said that ‘The Teachings of Christ provide a framework in which I try to lead my life.’ Many of us will want to give thanks for that life dedicated to God as Head of the Commonwealth and Supreme Governor of the Church of England. I think we can say with confidence that the Queen went ‘into the world to walk in God’s light, to rejoice in God’s love and to reflect God’s glory.’...
